So, I want to declare my undying love for chocolate… and now how I will always smell, and look like it - well… my hair will at least.

See, when I was growing up, I had a cousin Maryann, with amazing CHOCOLATE brown hair; think rich, dark chocolate.  I would always tell her, at the tender age of 7 most likely, “Maryann, I love your chocolate hair!”.  It was a running joke for a long time - she still has that beautiful hair!

Growing up, I went from my natural, to red, to blonde, to almost black, brown and then finally SUPER blonde as some of you have seen.

Well, the blonde killed my hair, and I buckled down, cut it, grew it out and dyed it back, after tons of breakage and losing all my length.  Needless to say- my hair has gone through many changes throughout the years.  And it will still take another year for it to even be semi normal. Still fighting that breakage :)

Well have no fear, chocolate is here!!!

My natural hair is oily, and now I have found THE best dry hair shampoo.  It’s so easy you can make it yourself.  All you need is a few ingredients!

Chocolate Dry Shampoo:

1. 2 TBSP cornstarch <— the only thing us Paleo’s will use it for :)

2. 5 TBSP unsweetened cocoa powder. Use the DARK chocolate version if you have actual chocolate brown hair :)

3. Shaker container with fine holes

For blondes, Just use the corn starch.. this would probably work for redheads too, although I’m sure you could crush up a pastel crayon in your color (if you felt comfortable with that! - Just make sure you get the right shade)

Directions:

Make sure you don’t wear a shirt that you care about when you’re doing this, especially for us chocolate brunettes :)

Shake on oily parts - usually close to the scalp and tousle gently with your fingers.  Brush out with a fine brush - i.e. boars head bristle - to get the excess powder out.

And voila! you will smell wonderfully of chocolate.

There are recipes online where you can add the essential oil of your choice, but, I obviously want to smell like chocolate :)

The cost on this is amazing, since cocoa and corn starch are very cheap in comparison to the dry shampoos on the market.  Most of them have aluminum and other harsh chemicals in them, this is the perfect solution to that.

Hope y’all enjoy :)image
